When Chelsi Allen of May Me and Mom spotted a playset her mother’s neighbor was selling, she instantly saw its potential. Along with her dad’s help, the blogger transformed a shabby, two-floor play set into an inviting country playhouse for her daughter, Maylee.
First, Allen’s father made the floor into an open area by getting rid of the dividers. “We wanted to create a larger room for kids to play in,” the blogger said. To make the playhouse feel more like a real home away from home, they added shiplap throughout as well as shingles to the roof. They even made tiny shutters for the second-floor window. “They seriously added so much character and charm,” said Allen.
As for the inside, they “added some pavers [to the bottom] and filled the spaces in between them with rubber bark.” They then decorated it with an antique kitchen set, a wooden table, pastel-colored pillows, and floral curtains. Flower boxes and lush vases added extra warmth to the outside while an wooden swing completed Maylee’s stunning sanctuary.
