The Original PlasmaCar is one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers on the market, and an extremely versatile and safe one at that.
Its design is so ingenious that your kids (or grandkids) don’t have to work any pedals or push themselves to get it to work. The car also doesn’t require any batteries or power to run. Instead, they can just prop their little feet on the footrests and twist the steering wheel to get the car to move.
Your children can play with their PlasmaCar both inside and outside and it works on almost any surface. Also, this cool little toy comes in three colors: Blue, Purple, and Red and Green.

But wait, I haven’t even gotten to the best part about the PlasmaCar yet — it’s good for almost all ages! The company says that everyone from the ages of 3 up to 99 can ride the car. It’s also a one-size-fits-all kind of car, so you don’t have to get a bigger model when your kids get older.
In fact, I even saw people buying the PlasmaCar for them even though they were in their 60s, which means it’s a fun toy for all decades. It can also withstand up to 220 lbs, making it perfect for both kids and adults.

The PlasmaCar is made from ABS plastic. It’s extremely durable, non-corrosive, and tough to bend or scrape. What’s more, the company says its car exceeds all US, Canadian, and European safety standards.

Little Tikes Cozy Truck Ride-On

With working doors and a big smile on the grille, it’s easy to see why the Little Tikes Cozy Truck is one of Amazon’s best sellers. The Cozy Truck is an extremely durable ride-on toy that has a drop-down tailgate and fun decals.
What’s more, the Little Tikes toy has a steering wheel with a working horn, and you’ll get demo batteries when you order from Amazon. It’s important to mention that the Little Tikes Cozy Truck also comes as a Princess model, which is bright pink and purple.
Age & Size Limitations
One of the greatest things about the Cozy Truck and reasons I think it’s one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers is the removable floorboard. It makes the car accessible to both a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old.
Unfortunately, unlike the PlasmaCar ride-on toy, the Cozy Truck has a weight limit of only 50 lbs. So your kids can’t grow into it quite as much as they could with the PlasmaCar.
The Safety Features
The Cozy Truck, along with all other Little Tikes toys, goes through extensive third-party testing to ensure its safety. What’s more, Little Tikes claims that it doesn’t use any BPA, harmful PVC, phthalates, or latex for its products.

Do you want an amazing ride-on toy for your 1-year-old or 2-year-old that you can push yourself? If so, the Step2 Whisper Ride is one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers that money can buy.
The Step2 Whisper Ride is a push car for toddlers that has quiet wheels and a working horn. With your storage needs in mind, Step2 made the handle completely foldable so you can easily carry it around wherever you go.
The Whisper Ride also has two adorable cup holders so your kids can take their snacks on the go. What’s more, Step2 put another cup holder on the handle so parents can enjoy a drink while they’re playing with their children.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a removable floorboard, so I wouldn’t recommend it for kids above the age of 4.

Little Tikes Rocking Horse
Practically Indestructible & Most Fun Per Dollar
The Little Tikes Rocking Horse has been around for ages and it’s one of the most durable ride-on toys you can buy for your toddlers. It comes in a bright blue color, smooth edges all around, and easy-grip handles.
Another cool thing about this rocking horse is that you can put it both indoors and outdoors. Due to its unique design, it’s perfectly stable on almost all surfaces.
But possibly one of the best things about the Little Tikes Rocking Horse is that you can use it with Alexa. Download the Little Tikes Play Big Skill on any device that supports Alexa to encourage interactive play.
Blue is the most iconic color for this little rocking horse, but you can also get it in Magenta if that is more your kids style:
Age & Size Limitations
The Little Tikes Rocking Horse is also probably the best ride-on toy you could buy for a 1-year-old or 2-year-old since it’s pretty compact. The company says that a 3-year-old could play on it, but I wouldn’t recommend buying it for tots older than that.
As far as the weight capacity goes, it’s the same as the previous three ride-on toys — it can support up to 50 lbs.
The Safety Features
The Little Tikes Rocking Hours has a high seat, but a low saddle so your children could play on it for hours on end. Also, with such a unique design, there’s no chance that your kids could ever fall off it and hurt themselves.
It comes fully assembled so you don’t have to fiddle around with screws that your kids could put in their mouths and accidentally swallow.

Strider 12 Sport Balance Bike
Best Balance Bike For Toddlers
If you have a 2-year-old at home who’s always bouncing off the walls, it’s time to invest in a balance bike. Strider 12 Sport Balance Bike is one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers that’ll teach them how to ride a bike without training wheels.
The Strider – 12 comes in 8 different colors, Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Red, White, Yellow, and Silver, so there should be one to make every kid happy.
You’ll also be happy to know that since the bike is made from an aluminum alloy, it only weighs 5.3 lbs. That means that you can easily carry it around if your kids ever get tired of riding.

With an adjustable seat and handlebar, the Strider sportbike accommodates kids from 18 months to 5 years old. In fact, you can customize the height so that it’s anywhere between 12 inches and 20 inches tall.
You can also get the Baby Bundle which includes an attachment that turns your bike into a rocker, the theory being that you can let very young tots use the rocker to “bond” with the Strider before graduating to using it as a balance bike.
There is a bit of confusion about the lowest recommended age for this attachment, depending on where you look it’s either 6 months or 1.5 years. Most parents seem to be comfortable letting their one-year-olds use the rocker and the majority say their kids love it.
If your kids are at the upper end of their toddler years and growing faster then an angry Hulk, you may want to look at the Strider 14x which is made for kids 3 – 7 years old and is designed to ease the transition to a regular pedal-powered bicycle.

One of the best things about the Strider is that it has mini-grips which are so narrow that even a 1-year-old could handle them without a problem. Also, the bike has a cushy handlebar that improves control and safety.
Another cool thing about the Strider is that the seat is a bit smaller and narrower than most balance bikes. That way, it can help with your child’s posture and balance.

Hape Scoot Around Ride-On Wood Bike

If you’re tired of plastic and aluminum and want something that’ll last your kid a lifetime — you’re in dire need of the Hape Scoot Bike. It’s by far one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers because it’s safe, sturdy, extremely durable, and made out of wood.
The Scoot Bike features four rubber-rimmed wheels that ensure stability, but also won’t leave scuff marks on your floors.
The Hape Scoot Bike is also extremely lightweight and it only weighs 2.5 lbs. So once your child is done scooting around, you can easily pick the bike up and carry it with you.

Hape says that this is one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers who are between one and three years old. However, when you’re assembling the bike, be extremely careful since it has some smaller pieces that are potential choking hazards.
It’s also important to mention that the Hape Scoot Bike can withstand up to 110 lbs of weight. Even though the maximum capacity is pretty high, you can’t adjust the height of the bike.

For the Roller Coaster Ride-On, Step2 thought outside of the box and designed a true masterpiece! It’s essentially a 10-foot, 3-piece slide that comes with one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers.
It combines the experience of driving around and scooting, with the excitement of going on a roller coaster. The car track is extremely easy to assemble and you don’t need to use any tools since they all snap into place.
Also, if your toddlers ever get bored with going up and down the roller coaster, they can use the car on its own. Since the roller coaster is pretty big, you might want to consider installing it outdoors on a flat surface. Of course, if you have space inside, you can use it indoors, as well, and it won’t scratch up your floors.

The Step2 Roller Coaster is pretty versatile and it can definitely grow with your children. The company says its best for kids between the ages of two and five because they’ll find it most comfortable.
As far as the maximum weight capacity, like many other ride-on toys on this list, the Step2 Roller Coast can withstand up to 50 lbs.

Best On a Budget & Most Adorable Toddler Ride-On Toy
The Little Tikes Lil’ Rollin’ Giraffe is by far one of the cutest and best ride-on toys for toddlers on this list. This giraffe-shaped ride-on toy is only 16 inches tall, making it the perfect height for most tots. It also weighs only two pounds and you can assemble it in less than 20 minutes.
Like the Strider 12, the Lil’ Rollin’ Giraffe also has mini-grips so that any child can hold on tight without a struggle. What’s more, your children can use it both indoors and outdoors.
When you order off Amazon, you’ll also get fun little decals for the giraffe that you can place pretty much anywhere you want.

Before buying the Lil’ Rollin’ Giraffe, keep in mind that it’s pretty small, which is why I’d only recommend it for kids between the ages of one and three. Fortunately, it does have an adjustable seat, which means there’s some wiggle room when your kids start growing.

If your toddlers are growing up fast and find most regular ride-on toys boring — you need to show them the Peg Perego Force Tractor. Trust me, it won’t leave them feeling indifferent.
The John Deere is a battery-powered tractor that has two speeds: 2.25 mph and 4.5 mph. It is definitely one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers if your kids want something fast that they don’t have to push.

Are your kiddos big fans of the Thomas and Friends show? Do they love playing with trains and setting up tracks? If your answer was yes, you need to get them the Power Wheels Thomas and Friends train with track. It is, without a doubt, one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers who dream of being conductors.
The train is a battery-powered ride-on toy that can go 1 mph when it’s on the track and 2 mph when it’s off. If you don’t have enough room in your home to set up the 18-foot track, you can put it outside. Just make sure it’s on a completely flat surface or it might not work properly.

The Berg Buzzy Nitro is probably one of the coolest ride-on toys for toddlers that your kids can grow into. It’s a four-wheel bike with a unique go-kart design, making it extremely easy to master and ride.
The Buzzy Nitro features innovative EVA tires that can never go flat and that you won’t ever have to inflate. What’s more, the tires are completely silent and won’t make that awful rattling noise like some cheaper, plastic models.
It has an adjustable steering wheel and saddle, which means your kids can use it for 2-3 years before outgrowing it.
This sturdy unit can be used indoors or outdoors. And I say outdoors I don’t mean for a casual stroll up and down the driveway – this baby can handle some serious off-road action.
Okay, it may not be sturdy enough to run the Baja 1000 but it should be able to handle anything a 3 year old can throw at it!

If you want a cool-looking trike for your tot that is shockingly cheap and super-durable, there’s no better choice than the Harley-Davidson Tough Trike.
This pedal-powered ride-on toy was actually inspired by the original Big Wheel, but Fisher-Price made some improvements on the newer model.
For example, the Harley-Davidson bike has bigger pedals, making it easier for your kids to turn them. Another change that Fisher-Price made is having extremely durable and rugged tires that offer extra stability.
The Tough Trike also has a small storage compartment under the seat where your kids can put their favorite snacks.

Since it is a pretty small trike, I’d say it’s one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers who are between the ages of two and five. Also, keep in mind that the weight capacity for this trike is 55 lbs.
Unfortunately, unlike some of the other toys I’ve talked about, the Harley-Davidson trike doesn’t have an adjustable steering wheel or pedals. So while it’s still an excellent choice for toddlers, they won’t be able to grow with the toy.

If trikes aren’t your kids’ thing, I recommend the Power Wheels Lil’ Quad — by far one of the best four-wheel ride-on toys for toddlers. It’s a battery-powered toy that can go up to 2 mph and it’s perfect for all outdoor rides.
The Lil’ Quad has an easy push button on the right-hand handlebar so that your little ones can easily make it go or stop. It has durable wheels, a sturdy base, and a handy cargo rack in the back.

If you want to get something for the youngest members of your household, the VTech Alphabet Train is one of the best ride-on toys for toddlers out there. It comes in three brightly colored options: Red, Pink, and Blue.
One of the biggest selling points of the Alphabet Train is that it’s actually a learning toy that has 10 activities your little ones can explore. For example, they can read from the storybook, mess around with the gears, and learn about the alphabet and numbers.
Some other interesting features of the Alphabet Train include a walkie-talkie and a number pad that’ll encourage role play and learning.

PonyCycle Official Classic U Series Ride-On Horse Toy
Best Plush Toy
When you’re looking for the best ride-on toys for toddlers, it’s key that the toy is versatile and durable, and the PonyCycle Horse is all that and more.
There are an enormous number of options you have to decide on when buying one of these ride-on toys; first, you need to decide on the color. The PonyCycle comes in a whole bunch of different colors, including Brown, Chocolate, and Black.
Then there is the Pink Unicorn model which is a huge hit with little girls:
You can also get the PonyCycle Horse in two versions: Classic U Series or Premium K Series.
PonyCycle says that its Premium series is a bit more durable and comfortable than the Classic. Judging from the pictures I’ve seen of the 2 models side by side the premium series also looks much nicer, like a high end plush toy.
But if you’re working with a tight budget, I say, go with the Classic. It’s still an incredibly sturdy and fun ride-on that your tots are sure to love.
Age & Size Limitations
In addition to the fun color selection, you can also choose between two different sizes: Small and Medium. Before you make your final decision, make sure to take your child’s height and age into consideration.
For example, the Small is probably best for kids who are between the ages of 3 and 5. This version also has a 55 lbs weight capacity. On the other hand, the Medium is better suited for kids who are around 4 to 9 years old and its capacity is 88 lbs.

Now, if you’re on the lookout for the best ride-on toys for toddlers that come as different hopping animals, you need to get familiar with two companies: iPlay, iLearn and Waddle. These two companies are at the top of their games and have toy selections that are unmatched.
iPlay, iLearn Hopping Horse
For Kids Who Love to Bounce
The iPlay, iLearn Hopping Horse comes in two colors: Brown and Pink. The Hopping Horse is an incredibly sturdy, inflatable toy that’s made out of cotton and non-woven materials. Even though it’s pretty thick and durable, it’s still extremely lightweight and will provide hours of fun.
But if you don’t want the horse, you’ll be happy to know iPlay, iLearn also has a bunch of different designs that come with glowing reviews. Here are your fun choices:
The one negative thing I’d have to say about the iLearn, iPlay ride-on plushies is that they’re not suited for outdoor play. When they get wet, they’ll quickly become soaked and it’ll take ages to dry them. Also, the fabric might be a bit difficult to clean.

The beauty of buying any of these hopping toys is that they’re extremely versatile and will grow with your child. In fact, Waddle says its hoppers are so safe that anyone who’s more than three years old can use them.
On the other hand, since the iPlay, iLearn is a bit smaller, the company says a child who’s only 18 months old can safely hop on the toys. But consider that most of these toys have a maximum weight capacity of around 110 lbs.

This chopper-style trike is a great choice for slightly older kids who would turn up their noses at something like the PAW Patrol trike (see above). It has a sleek racing design that even the pickiest 5-year-old will love.

The biggest complaint about this ride-on is that overly rambunctious kids can easily spin the front tire to shreds, or drift and wear out the back ones in a month or 2. Replacement tires are a bit expensive so if your little angel uses the trike often it could get a bit expensive to maintain.

Parent push-able ride-in cars have become extremely popular in the past couple years, and for good reason. They’re the perfect solution for leisurly strolls around the neighborhood, trips to the park or expeditions to the mall.
There are hundreds of different models available so trying to decide which one to buy can be quite daunting (I probably spent 10-15 hours looking at various models). My top pick is the Step 2 Whisper Ride II – which you can find in my “Best Of” list above. However, the Push Around Buggy was a VERY close second.

The Best Choice Jeep has 3 adjustable speeds, but the top speed is only 3.7 mph vs Power Wheels 5 mph top speed. The Power Wheels can also hold more weight (160 lbs) vs Best Choices 65 max weight limit.
The biggest drawback with this Jeep is that it is a one seater. Which may be a deal killer for parents with multiple kids.
It’s recommended for kids ages three to eight and comes in four colors: White, Black, Blue, Pink, Green, and Red,
Just be aware that, while the majority of purchasers love this unit – there is quite a high percentage of 1-star reviews, mainly complaining about the quality of the car and the fact that it breaks down easily. Also, I decided to check the companies rep out on BBB and was not too impressed by what I found.
Honestly, there are 2 reasons I included this on my list – the first is the remote control – it is a pretty cool idea that you can drive your kids around. The second is that it is a #1 Best Seller on Amazon and I figured if I didn’t include it some of you may think that I was remiss in my duties.
But in my opinion, if you don’t need the remote control it may be a safer bet to go with the Power Wheels jeep mentioned above.

Labebe also makes several models with convertible wheels which is a nice addition – BUT on the wheeled version, there is no seatbelt – which in my opinion is a major oversite as it is one of the best features on the original version.
I would stick to the wheel-less models – unless you absolutely must have the Hippie Green Dinosaur (which is awesome) as I could only find that design in the wheeled version.

For example, when you’re looking at bikes, trikes, and walkers, you should always check how sturdy and stable the base is. On the other hand, if you’re buying a hopping toy or rocking horse, you have to make sure that it has easy grips and that it doesn’t rock too far.
Before making your final purchase, look at which materials the company’s using and whether they’re safe for your child. That being said, no matter which of these ride-on toys you buy, you need to keep a constant eye out on your kids. Stay close until you feel that they’ve fully mastered the toy and get them some proper safety gear.
